Food that I had in Bali

Posted by admin on Aug-12-2009

I had expensive food in Bali. This is because all the restaurants that I entered were by the main road. These restaurants are mainly target at Caucasians where most of them are loaded. Averagely, I spent about Rp30,000 – Rp 40,000 per meal.

There are few kind of food that you should try in Bali. Firstly is Babi Guling at Ibu Oka, Ubud. You can see a lot of people are having this special food in the restaurant. I was alone there, since that was too crowded, I shared a same table with other French tourists. Secondly is the Satey babi at Warung Made, Kuta. But that day I didn’t have Satey babi because I would like to have a decent lunch. I couldn’t eat too much.

Another few special dishes that I didn’t have are Smoke Duck at Dirty Duck Restaurant (Ubud) and seafood at Jimbaran. I didn’t have time to enjoy the Smoke Duck, for Jimbaran seafood, it is for couple to enjoy their romantic dinner with great sunset. I was alone there, so I didn’t plan to go there of course.

Ironically, the cheapest meal that I had in Bali was the meal that I ordered in Sorgawi Bali hotel. It cost me Rp23,000 for a fried rice and Coke. I used to spent about Rp30,000 for a plate of fried rice in a restaurant in Kuta. But, those ‘forumers’ told me I could go to eat at warung at alley, that’s much cheaper (Rp8,000 for fried rice).

As a conclusion, I don’t really like food in Bali. I prefer food in Bangkok.

Tenji Japanese Buffet: Ramadhan promotion

Posted by admin on Aug-10-2009

Ramadhan month is coming soon. A lot of restaurants are having buffet promotion during this period. I received a promotional flyer from Tenji Japanese Buffet restaurant. It is RM49.90++ per pax for the supper promotion. I went for it last Saturday.

It was my second time to Tenji Japanese Buffet at Solaris Mont Kiara. Honestly speaking, I was so disappointed with this visit because I found that the food quality and variety drop drastically.

At first, they rarely replenished on their food. Certainly, you have to wait for 10 minutes for them to replenish the food. I waited them to replenish the soft-shell crabs, but till the end, I still couldn’t get any. We also found that the ingredients that being used to make Tempura is not the original flour. Obviously, they used normal flour to fried the Tempura. There is one Japanese style BBQ at the back on my last visit, I like that a lot. But, it was closed during my current visit!

They have stated there are 100 extra local delight dishes to be served during this promotion. But, I am sure you won’t have the temptation to take any one of it. They are too normal to be served in a buffet!

I didn’t eat a lot on this visit. I felt like not worthwhile for being there this time. It was really a bad impression for me about Tenji Japanese Buffet!

What else should be taxed?

Posted by admin on Aug-8-2009

A friend of mine who works as accountant told me that the interests that we gained from the money deposited at the bank is taxable! It is consider as part of the income where we should pay for tax. The interests for fixed deposit is really low nowadays, if it needs to be taxed, then what for we keep our money in the bank?

Money that we earned from investment such as stock also need to pay tax. Only the dividend that we got from stock does not to be taxed, because it has been taxed, haha!

Actually I am not so sure which is consider taxible items. But, it seems like no matter how you earn your money, you still cannot escape from tax… OMG, the real world is so cruel!

Spa in Ubud: Verona Spa

Posted by admin on Aug-7-2009

I strongly recommend you go for SPA in Ubud if you are in Bali. The price is reasonable with great ambient. On my third day in Bali, I hired a driver bring me to Sukawati and around the Ubud. It was a whole day trip indeed!

I went to Verona Spa in Ubud. I spend Rp 150,000 (around RM55) for two hours SPA. It is inclusive of body scrub, massage, treatment, and flower bath. I like the environment where it actually facing the paddy field. While I was enjoying flower bath, I could see children were playing in the paddy field. But, that’s quite a distance, they wouldn’t see you of course.

Honestly speaking, their massage and body scrub were not that good compared to what I did at TrueSpa. Anyway, that was the most enjoyable moment for me in Bali!

Kuta beach in Bali~

Posted by admin on Aug-4-2009

Kuta beach in Bali is a nice place for surfing. A lot of people learn surfing at Kuta beach. Hence, the beach is crowded during peak season from July to September. I was quite tempted to learn surfing, but as far as I know, only those Caucasian interested on that lesson. I hardly find Asian surfing there.

I stayed near to the beach on the second day. Hence, I walked to Kuta beach in the afternoon around 4pm. There are so crowded and too many eye candies! I didn’t have time to take out my camera to snap picture, just forget about it. I walked to a small stall and get myself a plate of noodle and beer. Then, I spent about two hours at the beach, of course I drank few bottles of beer too! Things that sell at the beach are extremely expensive!

At night, the beach area is quite silent. I walked along the beach alone and I saw few couples were chit-chatting there. I was quite scare at first, but after few minutes walk, I got used to it, haha!

On the last day morning, I went to the beach again! It was about 11am but the beach is still clear and not many people. I was talking to those people at the beach, they provide service on temporary tattoo and surfing lesson. I was told that two hours lesson would cost about Rp 250,000, expensive, but I am keen to learn, haha!

Just before I left the beach, I decided to do a temporary tattoo. It was Rp 20,000.
