2rd February, first day of spring

Posted by admin on Feb-4-2009

Today is the first day of spring (立春), and it is the actual date for Chinese New Year. But since nowadays we are following the Lunar Calendar many years ago, so we celebrate Chinese New Year in different date.

Based on the Auspicious Color to wear during Chinese New Year, I have to wear red color in this day. Since this is year of Ox, so that might be some “bad luck” for people who were born in year of Goat! I heard a lot of these, but I really hope I have good fortune throughout the year. So, I just follow with what have been predicted by all the fengshui masters!

Do you believe on those things? Will you follow?

Usually I will come back to work after praying The Emperor God (天公) in my hometown. But this year is the exception because I have one week holiday only. This is also the first time that I “celebrate” this festive in Klang Valley.

I stayed up until 12am last night; I was hoping surprise in this day in my Klang Valley’s place. Perhaps my area is lack of Hokkien people, so it was not happening at all. I only heard little firecracker sound comes from far. It can’t even wake me up after I slept.

While in my hometown, the Emperor God’s birthday is the most happening day in Chinese New Year. You could hear the firecracker sound last for few hours. The sky turns to red, everywhere is so smoky… (it is getting exaggerated…)

I hope next year I could apply a long holiday during Chinese New Year, so that I can celebrate it in my hometown. Are you a Hokkien too? Do you pray to The Emperor God?

Auspicious Color to wear on Chinese New Year

Posted by admin on Feb-2-2009

Most of the people have started go back to office after enjoying Chinese New Year. Based on the Chinese belief, it would be better if you could wear the suitable color in the first working day after Chinese New year.

I have compiled a file according to your Chinese Zodiac for year of Ox. You can Download from here as reference. Wish you could have a prosperous year!

My Chinese New Year gathering

Posted by admin on Feb-1-2009

This is a post that I dedicate to my old-schoolmates~

Normally, we will have “grand” gathering among my secondary school friends during Chinese New Year. Most of us have the common holiday during this festive season, unless some of them choose not to come back (such as WB Lim).

As usual, we would have a makan-makan session during Chinese New Year, and this is where our gathering takes place. I was the appointed/ kepoh one to arrange this gathering for the passed few years. To me, the easiest way is to prepare steamboat dinner. I can simply order plenty of fishball from my sister. Most of the fishball were expensive (>RM10/ pack) but it is delicious. Then, I will collect money from those who present. This time, I charged them RM20/ pax, and couple get 20% discount (New Idea). Initially, the budget was RM15, but to be save, I’ve collected RM5 extra from them~! HAHA! I believed they knew I’ve overcharged, but it is New Year right? Price gone up! Okay?

There is RM70++ extra I from the money I collected from them. It is not easy to return the balance to them, because the amount is not much after divided to each person. So, we (MauWei and I) decided to use the balance to buy a small gift for ChinHeng’s new house! He has a new house, again!

A lot of activities have been carried out during this gathering. Chit-Chating, lucky draw, playing card game, updating status, declaring date for marriage, and many more! There are five couples expected to get married in this year! Indeed, this is good news.

It was a delightful gathering, but not all of our schoolmates were present on that night. I hope that would be more schoolmates can join (just cross our fingers that would be another one) in next year.

4th day of CNY

Posted by admin on Jan-29-2009

Today is forth day of Chinese New Year. I feel sleepy now. Everyday went out until late night with my friends. Next day woke up early in the morning (9:30 am) to have my breakfast. So tiring…

I will back to town on Sunday. So, just few days left for my CNY holidays. How about your CNY holidays?
