Kuta beach in Bali~

Posted by admin on Aug-4-2009

Kuta beach in Bali is a nice place for surfing. A lot of people learn surfing at Kuta beach. Hence, the beach is crowded during peak season from July to September. I was quite tempted to learn surfing, but as far as I know, only those Caucasian interested on that lesson. I hardly find Asian surfing there.

I stayed near to the beach on the second day. Hence, I walked to Kuta beach in the afternoon around 4pm. There are so crowded and too many eye candies! I didn’t have time to take out my camera to snap picture, just forget about it. I walked to a small stall and get myself a plate of noodle and beer. Then, I spent about two hours at the beach, of course I drank few bottles of beer too! Things that sell at the beach are extremely expensive!

At night, the beach area is quite silent. I walked along the beach alone and I saw few couples were chit-chatting there. I was quite scare at first, but after few minutes walk, I got used to it, haha!

On the last day morning, I went to the beach again! It was about 11am but the beach is still clear and not many people. I was talking to those people at the beach, they provide service on temporary tattoo and surfing lesson. I was told that two hours lesson would cost about Rp 250,000, expensive, but I am keen to learn, haha!

Just before I left the beach, I decided to do a temporary tattoo. It was Rp 20,000.

My stay at Aneka Kuta Beach hotel in Bali

Posted by admin on Aug-1-2009

For the second night, I was staying at Aneka Kuta Beach hotel. It is a decent hotel which located at the same row with Hard Rock hotel. It is so near with Kuta beach, about three minutes walk from the hotel. But it is quite a distance from Sorgawi Bali hotel that I stayed at first night. So, I hired a taxi driver sent me to this hotel. Most of the taxi drivers know this hotel even though there are uncountable hotels in Kuta.

I booked this hotel room at hotelclub.com. It costs me USD69 per night for a standard room. However, they have upgraded to deluxe room for my stay. It is considered expensive to me, hence I can only afford staying there for one night only.

The room is really big but since I was alone there, so that was quite wasting of the space. I was so hoping to find someone to fill up the free space in the room at that time, haha! The room consists a small TV room where you can enjoy the TV shows there. It is different with other hotel where TV is located at the front of the bed.

Perhaps I was quite tired on the second day, I slept very well in the room. Conclusion is, I like this room mainly is because of its location!

Bali Sorgawi Hotel

Posted by admin on Jul-26-2009

I stayed at two different hotels during my trip to Bali. For the first night and last night, I was staying at Bali Sorgawi hotel. It is a decent budget hotel with great service. Then, I was staying at Aneka Kuta Beach Hotel for my second night. I booked my hotel room from the internet, but only for the first two night. I still had no idea on where to go on third night at that time.

I couldn’t sleep well at the first night for the two reasons:

  • I was not get used to sleep alone in the hotel while traveling, some more I saw the banana trees not too far from my room…
  • The air conditional was directly facing to me, I felt really cold at night but I couldn’t off the swing function! So the cold wing blew to me and I couldn’t sleep well!

But I decided back to this hotel for my last night stay because I asked them changed my room to pool view and also late checkout. Then, I also bargain reduce the price to Rp 300,000/ night (around RM110++). July – September are the peak season in Bali, a lot of hotels have raised their rate!

The location of this hotel is a bit far from the beach. You need to take around 10-15 minutes to go to Legian beach. But, if you want to go pub or disco around Kuta area at night, it is just about three minutes walk. That’s another reason I returned to this hotel for third night stay.

Then, for the second night, I spent USD69 (around RM245) for a night! Tell you about that hotel later, it is great, but I have no $$ to spend on it for the other night…

Bali: Things that happen upon arrival

Posted by admin on Jul-23-2009

In the flight, I met a group of people from Johor, they also went to Bali for holiday. That was their team activity where the company paid for it. We were chit-chatting in the flight. Wao~ I really hope that our company will send us to Bali for holiday as well!

A day before, I called to the first hotel that I would be staying for the first night. Most of the hotels in Kuta/ Legian area provide free air-port transfer to hotel. So, my called was about the free air-port transfer arrangement. But, when I was at the international arrival hall, I couldn’t find the representative from the hotel! I was quite nervous but luckily I brought the hotel contact with me. I asked people around there on how to make call to the hotel. I don’t know why I cannot make call by using my DiGi prepaid when I was in Bali. At the end, the phone shop owners lent me the landed phone for making a call. The driver was caught in traffic.

I understand that without a phone in hand is really inconvenient in the current world. Hence, I bought a XL prepaid card (Indonesia mobile operator) from the seller. The prepaid card cost Rp60,000 (almost RM 21) with Rp5,000 credits inside. According to the dealer, this is the cheapest plan in Indonedia.

After 15 minutes of waiting at airport, the hotel drive has arrived and apologized politely. I said it is fine, as long as you keep the promise and pick me up from the airport, haha! It was almost 9pm when I was at the hotel room. I tell you, my room is facing a small orchard with banana trees

Traveling alone: the chapter begins…

Posted by admin on Jul-22-2009

I bought the air tickets to Bali when AirAsia starts abolished fuel surcharge and zero fare on the tickets. Hence, the tickets were quite cheap. But, I didn’t expect that I would be traveling alone in this beautiful island.

Due to the unforeseen circumstances, I went to Bali alone for my holiday two weeks ago. It was my first time to Bali and also first time for traveling alone. It was a four days three nights trip, and I have paid for the hotel for the first two nights on prior. I didn’t want to waste my precise holidays and the fees that I have been paid for, so I decided went there alone for a new exposure.

My flight was at 3:50pm, Saturday. In that morning, I still haven’t gotten exchange Ringgit > Rupiah. So, I went to Mid Valley for money changer at 10:15am, and the quickly rush back to pack my simple luggage. I stepped out from house at 12:35pm, and my holiday to Bali alone has begun…
