Spring cleaning at monastery

Posted by admin on Jan-17-2010

I woke up in the early morning on Sunday. Chinese New Year is just around the corner, hence I was volunteering to participate the “spring cleaning” at the monastery in USJ. I was expecting things could be done within half day but I only got back at 6pm.

I was stink after cleanup the kitchen and the drain. You wouldn’t want to know what I’d done to clear the drain. That was the first time I did that as well. Since I decided to do, then I have to do the best for them. At the same time, I get to know few friends as well.

After a tiring work, I was wondering whether my family has done the spring cleaning or not… Perhaps I should go back next week and help up my own family too. Have you done house spring cleaning yet?

Are you a vegetarian?

Posted by admin on Jan-14-2010

My boss bumped into me in the lift after having lunch. Suddenly, she looked and me and ask,

“Sean, are you a vegetarian now?”

She was shocked when she saw my monky photo album on my Facebook. Then, she started to feel curios about my direction, Haha!

“Why?” I answered her. I think it was impolite but I really didn’t know how to answer her question. Another colleague was in the lift, and then she smartly helped me to explain that I am practicing it, but not entirely.

Yes. I start practicing it before I went for the short-term monk “sojourn”. It is good for health. But I still eat meat occasionally especially when I hang out with friends or colleagues. I still go to normal restaurant but just order food that without meat. I am not a “fulltime” vegetarian, but vegetable is my main food resources.

This is  answer to my boss and other friends and colleagues.

Hmm… are you vegetarian too? Or a meat lover?

A visit to Taman Sinar Harapan

Posted by admin on Jan-11-2010

A group of kind-hearted youth went for a charity event at Taman Sinar Harapan, Kuala Kubu Bahru last Sunday. I tagged along for the trip although I don’t know most of them. We donated quite a number of old clothes and diapers. These are the items that they need the most. They are really unfortunate.

The second home that we visited was an old folk home nearby. I talked to a few of residents there. I found that most of them keep a cat. The cat accompanies them most of the time and even shares the same bed. Perhaps the cat is the closest ‘partner’ for them. I can understand that because I see they love their own cat very much. What pet will I keep as my “companion” in my elderly life? Haha!

There is another old lady who has three children. Her children sent her to this home due to busy work schedule. They will only come to visit their mum once in a year, which is during Hari Raya.

Anyway, I will say don’t so worry about our future. Keeping kind heart, saying good words, plant good deeds, then you will be blessed. Appreciate whatever you have now. Always remember that you are a lucky one because you are normal and have good health.

My short term monkhood experience (短期出家)

Posted by admin on Jan-7-2010

There are two major changes in my life in 2009: break-up and my short-term monk experience. Yes, you can say the former incident leads to the latter incident to be happened. Everything has two sides, depends on how you look at it. This is life.

All these time, I claimed myself is a Buddhist but I didn’t really know much about Buddhism until I really “study” on it. After little exposure, I would say Buddhism is a good teaching, at least for me it is. Then, it makes me believes more about Karma.

On 24 December 2009, I went to Dharma University (大马第一从林) located in Bentong, Pahang for a short-term monkhood experience. I think many of us don’t know the existence of this place. It is a nice place.

A total of 82 people were participated in this program, including male and female. All the ‘monks’ have to shave off their hair but ‘nun’ are not required to do so. Honestly speaking, I felt pressure while waiting for my turn to shave off, Haha! But, I feel great when I am bald. I can save a lot of time with bald!

The program was great. I learned a lot of things in the Dharma talks and I love it. This monastery is based on Mahayana division, so there are a lot of protocol during chanting, Haha! But if people asked what I had learned, I would tell them: I learned eat, walk, sit, sleep, and live in the right methods. Sounds easy? That’s Dharma, Haha~

It was a great experience. I’ve another name called 玄鹏 now. Haha~ I definitely will go for the level-2 if time allowed!

Good luck 2010

Posted by admin on Jan-3-2010

I am quite lazy to do my blogging. I’d promised that I would keep my blog updated. However, something unexpected happened in my life and I am down again. Perhaps I haven’t back to my usual pace in life. I believe I would someday.

Anyway, I hope life would be better in year 2010 for everyone. Not saying to forget all the bad things that happened in year 2009, because no matter good or bad, those were part in our life. I also understand that GOD cannot please everyone, that always make everyone happy everyday. I believe that’s depending on luck. Hence, I wish all of you good luck. Although luck is not at your side now, but someday it will come to you. Be a good person, plant good deeds, luck is just closed to you.
